Markham Vale has hit a major milestone this week as a further 300,000 sq. ft. reaches completion following a £25 million deal agreed in May 2020.
The two 220, 000 sq. ft. and 75, 000 sq. ft. buildings – known as Orion – were completed by HBD on behalf of Aver Property, a joint venture between Ergo Real Estate and NFU Mutual.
Markham Vale is a partnership between HBD and Derbyshire County Council. A 200-acre scheme with direct access to the M1 via a dedicated junction, it’s one of the region’s flagship industrial locations and has been a catalyst for the creation of thousands of jobs.
Anthony Clitheroe, Director at HBD, said: “Demand remains robust for top quality industrial space in strategic locations. Demand driven by the pandemic has exacerbated an existing shortage of large, well-located industrial stock so it’s positive to be able to bring almost 300,000 sq. ft. to the market.”
Derbyshire County Council’s Head of Markham Vale Peter Storey said: “Reaching this milestone is great news for Markham Vale which has continued to grow through a very a challenging time.
“We look forward to following the progress of the new buildings and welcoming new businesses to them very soon.”
To date, HBD has delivered 2,000,000 sq. ft. of industrial, logistics and warehousing space at Markham Vale in what has been a hugely successful 16-year partnership with the county council.
2020 was a successful year for Markham Vale, welcoming several new businesses to the scheme, including Chester’s, which selected it as the location for its second restaurant. It secured planning permission last month and work will begin on site in the coming weeks. Markham Vale also recently welcomed Daher Aerospace, which has moved into MV55.
