Having built a knowledge of the opportunities around Liverpool and the M62 through previous schemes, Knowsley was well and truly on our radar. Its prominent location made it the perfect spot for a retail-led, mixed-use development. Barnfield Construction invited us to partner on a 10.5-acre site that ticked all our boxes, and we keenly accepted.
In 2018, planning permission for Beacon 62’s mixed-use retail scheme was granted, and occupier demand was instant. Terms were quickly agreed with Aldi for an 18,700 sq ft store, which is due to open in summer 2020. Deals with Eurogarages, as well as a high-profile car dealership have followed.
With the significant position at Junction 6 of the M62 proving as popular as we anticipated, our plans to widen the roads to improve a previously congested network are a key element of the scheme. This will ensure safety and flowing traffic for everyone in the area. Ourselves and Barnfield are currently looking forward to this being achieved as phase one completes in Spring 2020, and beyond that to bringing 350+ jobs into this gateway location.
