HBD has let 5,600 sq ft at The Courthouse to leisure operator, One Eight Six, which has chosen the building for its Manchester debut.
The former home of Manchester County Court, the Grade II listed Courthouse benefits from a rich history and occupies an enviable position on Deansgate, at the heart of the city. The Oddfellows Society currently operates its headquarters from the building, along with Hawksmoor.
One Eight Six brings a fresh new concept to Manchester, combining barber, live entertainment and creative daytime space.
HBD’s Tom Dunn said: “The Courthouse proved the perfect location for One Eight Six, with an interior that lends itself to the sophisticated look and feel of their brand. It’s always great to work with independents bringing something fresh to the city and we’ve no doubt that the Courthouse will be an excellent home for their new venture.”
Dean Mac is launching One Eight Six alongside his business partner, Scott Patel. The pair benefit from more than twenty years’ experience within the leisure industry. He said: “The Courthouse is the perfect location for One Eight Six; a completely new concept for Manchester.
“One Eight Six brings together a barber shop, creative daytime space and entertainment, accompanied by a cool new bar – it’s a fantastic space at the centre of the city, whether you need to get your head into work in a smart, laid back environment, get a fresh trim, or relax at the end of the day with drinks and some great live music. The Courthouse is a beautiful building and we look forward to opening our doors in November.”
The agents for The Courthouse are Cheetham & Mortimer and Sixteen.
The Courthouse was one of HBD’s first investments in Manchester City Centre. The developer is now involved in the delivery of some of the city’s most important regeneration projects, including The Island, a joint venture with Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund, Kampus, it’s £250m scheme being delivered in partnership with Capital & Centric, Equitable Building on St Ann’s Square, and the regeneration of Deansgate Train Station.
