IPECO is set to expand its base in Southend after developer HBD secured planning for a new 140,000 sq. ft. building at Airport Business Park Southend (ABPS).
IPECO is a world leader in commercial and military aircraft crew seating and executive jet passenger seating, supplying many of the world’s top airlines. It employs almost 800 people, with around 600 based at its Southend base.
This latest deal will double the manufacturer’s space at ABPS less than two years after moving into its first 124,000 sq. ft. purpose-built unit.
Adrian Schofield, Senior Director and Head of HBD’s London office, said: “Airport Business Park Southend has proven a very successful location for IPECO, which is now doubling its presence less than two years after moving into its first building. It’s a thriving business and we’re pleased to be able to support in delivering the space it needs to grow and create new jobs, contributing to the economic prosperity of both the local community and wider region.
“We have continued to see strong interest in ABPS from occupiers looking for high-quality, purpose built space in a great location – there are a number of exciting new plans underway across the scheme and we look forward to bringing those forward in the coming months.”
ABPS forms part of an ambitious new vision for Southend. The 21-ha scheme is being delivered in partnership between HBD and Southend-on-Sea City Council, with £150m invested in high-quality space and infrastructure, including the new “Launchpad.”
ABPS has 1million sq. ft. outline planning permission for flexible business space, including HQ-style office buildings, large-scale industrial and warehousing space and hotel facilities. Located adjacent to Southend Airport and close to major road and rail connections, it is unmatched for connectivity.
