TECA is a scheme we’re massively proud of, so we were thrilled to hear that it bagged RICS’ inaugural Social Impact Award.
The Award was created to celebrate projects that deliver economic, social or environmental improvements in communities – a scheme that delivers all three in spades, TECA is a worthy winner.
A world-leading exhibition and conference centre, it was developed in partnership with Aberdeen City Council. TECA was never about just bricks and mortar, but it’s impact on Aberdeen and charting a new path for the city.
Famous for its oil, the Council was keen to take Aberdeen in a new direction, leading the way in clean energy and building a reputation for innovation, while allowing the city to compete on the entertainment stage with a top-notch arena.
Using advanced technology to provide heating and cooling power, TECA is not only beautifully designed, but low carbon too.
The three-year build came to an end in September 2019 and won several awards in the months that followed, including Development of the Year at the Scottish Property Awards.
All eight category winners will go forward to the UK-wide Grand Final, scheduled to take place on 24 September in London.
