Atkins, one of the world’s most highly thought of design, engineering and project management consultancies, was founded in Epsom. It’s always been their spiritual home but their offices were in need of an update.
Having owned the site since their earliest beginnings, Atkins were keen to hold onto it as their UK base, and the local council were relieved to hear they’d be staying. However, this was going to be a complex project to pull off.
We’d worked with Atkins previously on their Cumbria location, so we were over the moon to be appointed as developer for this scheme too. Atkins needed someone who knew how to work in partnership and deliver the HQ of their dreams. Someone who’d be considerate to their vision and make their needs a priority. We were passionate about realising their ambitions. After all, this was to be their heartland.
This one-off project needed to be delivered in multiple phases and the site’s origins treated with sensitivity. As well as office buildings from the 1960s and ‘70s, we were also working around an historic manor house. Despite the complex obstacles, we collaborated closely with Atkins and their team to make the headquarters they’d envisioned a reality.
The result is a world-class flagship facility with sustainability rooted in every aspect. We’ve further proven our ability to create offices of huge scale, as well as our adaptability as partners. Atkins are now ready to move into their new home, continuing to grow and provide skilled jobs in Epsom, and beyond.
